Flashback!

About a week ago an old friend called and asked me if I could do him a favour. He’s a dj and we worked in the same club like 2 years ago. He broke his hand and wanted me to do his set on saturday. I hadn’t touched any piece of dj equipment in about one and a half year but fuck it, I said I’ll do it. The overall sitch was kinda bad. I had turntables, I didn’t have records. So I decided to go another way and use may Laptop with Ableton Live. I knew Live from previous projects so it was easy for me to set everything up. For the techenthusiasts my setup consisted of:

- Apple Macbook with Live6 (for some strange reason Live runs faster on my Macbook than it does on my Macbook Pro)

- Apogee Duet Audio Interface (sounds awesome)

- Behringer BCF2000 Midi Controller (for adjusting track volume and Play/Stop/Cue)

- Behringer BCR2000 Midi Controller (for selecting Tracks and samples / adjusting fx)

- Korg Kaospad KP2 (for „touching the music)

- Line6 Delay Modeller DL4 (great delay and loop sampler)

- Line6 Filter Modeller FM4 (for filter sounds)

I added some video footage, recorded by the Isight camera in my laptop and my friends carrying a camcorder. I mixed the original music videos into it so that it’s at least not that boring.

Break yourself – the alternative

I’m bleeding, yes o/I went skateboarding today. Normally I’m average to mid skilled but today it’s windy as hell. It blasted me off a rail twice and as I was about to jump a 2 foot gap it litterly blew me away about 4 foot in a 90° angle to my driving direction. That was fun Oh, and I got hit by a piece of wood, which came from a roof or something, I couldn’t tell what it was. That was not so much fun, but over all it was totally worth it!

Wii Sensorbar

That black ugly thing you have to put on or unter your tv is called sensorbar. That’s why I thought it would have some kind of sensor in it. But, it doesn’t. I opened one today. All that it is is some infrared leds and a couple of resistors. It’s just two infrared lamps. All the recieving is done in the wiimote. You could put two candles onto your tv and  it will properbly work in short distances.So how does this work? The wiimote recieves the two beams of infrared light and depending on how much light it gets from one side it calculates it’s relative position. It doesn’t care if it’s candles, open fire or a so called „sensorbar“. The sensorbar has special leds with a high infrared ouput so it works best and over large distances But you could use something else or build your own sensorbar, for example if you brake yours. Or, if you have friends over for some competition build a little infrared spot you turn on when you’re not the one playing. I guess you’ll win any game. 

ICQ6 Exploit

Read this first In this article I’m giving you information on how to crash peoples ICQ Clients and do worse. Do not use this for fucking around with people! I’m serious, don’t! I show this because I think it’s a security lack and shows how crappy the original ICQ client is. This is  only for informational purposes. If you break peoples computers and get cought, don’t blame me, I warned you! 

The ICQ6 client is based on the Microsoft Internet Explorer and Flash (and in fact that’s 90% of why I think it’s the biggest crap ever made). Everything that crashes IE oder Flash will crash ICQ. 

Let’s begin having fun.  

If ICQ gets HTML Tags, it reacts. That’s how Textcolor and Fonts are done. Tzers  are nothing more than flash files beeing played. With some minor knowledge in html you can write some code that is interpreted on someones machine. 

So how do you get the code on someones machine?

I use Miranda on windows machines because I can customize it to my needs.  So I’ll be using miranda (I’m currently experimenting with AdiumX so check back later for results). You have to have Miranda and a plugin called „icq+.dll“. ICQ+ is used instead of the normal „icq.dll“ and allows some more features, for example sending „tzers“.

As I said above tzers are nothing more than flash animations played on your machine. The flashfiles are located on an icq server (you can use google to find out more about that). With Miranda and ICQ+ you can send tzers and what’s important, you can set a name for them. So why is this important:

The name given to it will be shown in the message window of ICQ6. You see the word „scratch“, that’s the name you can set. This name is not plain text, if you put in html there, it will be rendered (in fact ICQ6 is putting html in to allow replaying the animation).Let’s say we put in an image tag.  The image will be shown on ICQ6 clients.   

I guess you can think of a lot of bad things you can do with this.But there is more! Remember ICQ6 is based on IE and IE has a lot of security holes. There are lot’s of exploits crashing IE and worse…  

Guess what, it works on ICQ6. You can even use PHP. Jscript won’t work (it might but right now I haven’t got it to work).  

And there is one more thing!If you don’t want to download Miranda or can’t cause you’re on a Linux or Mac machine all you have to do is send a format-string-specifier and ICQ6 will crash. That’s right, send it to anyone using ICQ6 and it will crash. Scary! If you don’t know what a        format-string-specifier is or which ones work best, just google.

Upgrade your Ipod harddrive

Some weeks ago I upgraded my Ipod. I have an Ipod Photo and an Ipod Classic. I like the photo more for several reasons. Battery time, songs play faster after selecting them and so on. Unfortuanally it slipped out of my hand and kissed the floor. Headcrash, also known as „the click of doom“. I got a 80gigs 1.8″ drive off ebay, very cheap. I cracked the Ipod open using a knife and switched out the drive. After that I turned on the Ipod and it showed a black and white version of the „Do not disconnect“ screan though it wasn’t connected to the pc, which kind of scared me. I connected the Ipod to my Mac and Itunes popped up and told me to reset the Ipod. After a minute it was finished and the ipod showed a black and white picture of a wallplug. I tried everything to get around using the wallplug but nothing worked. I lost mine (and found it back 2 days later *narf*)  so I headed to the next apple store. They were really friendly and let me connect my Ipod to one of their wallplugs. After 5 minutes the Ipod was up and running again. 80gigs instead of 20gigs – not bad.

Wiikey install

So yesterday I modded my first Nintendo Wii. I haven’t done modchips since my old Xbox so I’m not really into the scene anymore. When I think back to my friend’s PS2, damn… hard job. So I ordered a Wiikey and a special screwdriver. These days it’s freaking easy. I remember when it was hard to get chips and even harder to get a firmware for it. Now you just order the chip, firmware’s on it, just solder it in, done. And it’s not 128 little pins streched over the whole motherboard anymore, place it, solder 7 points around the chip and you’re done. All you need is a steady hand and a good soldering iron.  

Sony Ericsson K510I – good times

Ok, here’s the deal. A friend of mine got a SE K510i from a buddy and tried flashing it. He couldn’t get it to work so he gave it to me.  After an hour of googling I had read several articles, some saying it can’t be flashed and some saying you need hardware. I randomly ran into a piece of software called „SEtool lite“. It’s the greatest phone flashing tool i’ve ever seen. If you think flashing a Moto is easy you haven’t  seen this. You need a flash file (and a file system file) you can get from SE directly, hook up the phone to the your pc while pressing c, start flashing, that’s it. Done. I did some other customizing on the phone so I had to do something called „finalizing“ which tells the phone where all the date is or something I’m not sure, but anyways it works, no branding anymore.So if you want to do this yourself and have any problems doing it just send me an email and I’ll hook you up with some great links.
